The Last Defense Academy presents the 100-day war of extremes and despair between 15 students chosen for the Special Defense Unit and the mysterious enemy “School Invaders (Shinkosei).”
While finding out secrets hidden in the academy in the adventure part, players fight against “School Invaders” by using “Hemoanima” in the simulation RPG part.
A dense human drama at the academy with attractive members of the Special Defense Unit.
And the game has as many as 100 endings. This unbelievable volume attracted enthusiastic support from many fans. That is why this game won the award.
Work Introduction
In the “Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy,” players spend 100 days repeating two parts: “ADV (Adventure)”and SRPG (simulation RPG). In ADV, players get to the bottom while in SRPG, they fight enemies by using supernatural powers.
The Hero Takumi Sumino lives ordinary daily lives in the “Tokyo Residential Complex.”
His peaceful days with his family and childhood friend are easily collapsed by unidentifiable invaders that suddenly appeared.
Takumi is granted the power of “Hemoanima“ to fight back by a mysterious creature, which identify itself “SIREI” managed to get out of the mess, but after that, he is compelled to transfer to a new school: the Last Defense Academy.
It was 15 students that are got together. The “SIREI” told them to defend the school from approaching enemies School Invaders (Shinkosei) for one hundred days.
The 100-day war of “extremes” and “despair” starts now. Kazutaka Kodaka (masterwork: Danganronpa) and Kotaro Uchikoshi (masterwork: the Zero Escape series) teamed up for the first time and worked as directors and writers of this game.
Comment of the game producer
The “Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy” is Too Kyo Games' first original Intellectual Property (IP) game. We took a big gamble to create this game, shared the production fund with the publisher Aniplex Inc., and got into a lot of debt. To prevent this game from being buried among other major games, we planned to give a unique feature and created a game with unprecedented volume, totaling 100 different endings.
This game is very different from others at the time of production. We are really happy and proud of receiving this honorable Japan Game Awards Division for Excellence.
And we paid off our debt! (Cry)
To tell the truth, we don’t think this is universally acceptable. Still, we received this wonderful award because crazy game creators and staffs did not give up easily. Above all, enthusiastic fans supported us. We will take this as encouragement and keep on enlivening this unique game all over the world!
