Reason for the Global Award Japanese Product

This work provides how to play new Smash Bros. such as coordination between 3DS and Wii U while the Nintendo 3DS version features "Field Smash," a battle game involving exploration, which enables a player to play anytime, anywhere.
The Wii U edition includes new factors utilizing characteristics of game players such as a party game that can be played like sugoroku.
This work was awarded because the overwhelming support from users in the overseas market was evaluated.

Work Introdution

The latest work of "Smash Bros." series, smash games by all stars of Nintendo.
More than 50 new and old fighters such as villagers in "Animal Crossing" series and Little Mac in "Punch-Out!!" as well as familiar characters such as Mario and Link enter into the fight.
For the first time in the series, two types of platforms are offered: stationary game console and mobile.

The Nintendo 3DS version features "Field Smash," a battle game involving exploration and utilizing a feature of the portable game player, which enables anyone to play anytime, anywhere.
Players can enjoy easier character customization.

Wii U version is a game like a "stadium," where everyone comes in front of the TV and is clamorous with delight, including a fully-attended 8-Player Smash game and a party game, which can be played like sugoroku.

The game is still growing: continuous updates after the start of sales, addition of additional fighters and functionalities for the convention.

Comment of the game producer

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS
In Japan, mobile type sells well while overseas such as North America, portable type.
Thinking of the particularity of the establishment of the team, we could not help but develop them simultaneously.

It is pretty amazing to enjoy the "Smash Bros." on the portable game player in 3DS (60fps) and play it online.
The design of this work is unreasonable, and we once thought we should created it in 2D.
We expected customers will not understand such functions and difficulties.

However, reading "Reason for Voting," many voters pointed out the smooth operation of Smash Bros. on a portable game player and the achievements to satisfy the factors above.

We did our best not to reduce characters and items lest the 3DS version should look like a reduced-size version of the Wii U version, which was simultaneously produced.
We repeated minute adjustments just like going through the eye of a needle, paid attention to the space of the stage and the visibility of characters.
This work was filled with as much as possible for a number of reasons.
I am grateful to staffs, who achieved such tasks.

Masahiro Sakurai, Director

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
This is a special gala software with many characters, representative of the gaming industry so that users all over the world can enjoy the work without discrimination.
There are creators and sales representatives, who bring up contents, fans supporting them, and the history of the game.
After all, technology and troubles are required to virtually control all of them and have players enjoy without any bankruptcy.
Since the last work, a team has been gathered to not the original developer but me, who became a freelancer.
This time, I produced the work with staffs of Bandai Namco Studio.
They were patient and positive though we remade everything of the previous work and it was the first time for them to develop the series.
As a result, this amount was created as a work product.

The Wii U version allows up to eight (8) players fighting at a time for the first time in the series.
We tried to do our best to offer a controller that supports a wide range, and the support of amiibo and music.
We deeply appreciate that this work is widely enjoyed in the world.
