The Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) has been awarding outstanding computer entertainment software products of all computer platforms since 1996 based on the spirit of "openness", "fairness" and "justness". Awards ceremonies have been held five times so far - as the "CESA Awards" of 1996 and 1997 and the "Japan Entertainment Software Awards" from 1998 to 2000.

To help make this award system more open and authoritative, CESA renamed it last year to the "CESA GAME AWARDS", adding a new category to award pre-release games which are exhibited at "TOKYO GAME SHOW".

Considering computer entertainment software to be a cultural form, the "CESA GAME AWARDS" are held to contribute to its growth and also to enhance public awareness of the computer entertainment software industry.
By encouraging voting by the public and publicizing nominated and awarded products, it is hoped that the social recognition of the computer entertainment software industry is to be expanded and advanced.
