This is the latest game of “Momotaro Dentetsu” series. This is a classic Sugoroku board game where players travel around the country according to the roll of the dice. In this game, the characters with rich personalities associated with each region are greatly renewed. Furthermore, characters greatly power up: more vicious King Bombie, King Bombie Jr. Pocon, who blows up the acquired properties, BigBombie, who doubles debts according to the roll of the dice, etc.
Not only series fans but also many users, who play this game for the first time in the Momotaro Dentetsu series, supported this game. That is why the game won the award.
Reason for the Best Sales Award
The latest “Momotaro Dentetsu” series, which has been around for over 30 years.
Players become the president of a railroad company, cast dice to go around all over Japan, and save up money to get a property, aiming at the highest total assets in Japan. The game rule is so easy to understand that anyone can play.
The game can be played in three ways: “Minna de Momotetsu (Everybody Momotetsu)," which enables up to four players to play together by using a single Nintendo Switch; “Chikaku de Momotetsu (Momotetsu Nearby)” with local communication; and “Net de Momotetsu (Momotetsu Online)” with the Internet connection. This game was played by many users, from children to adults, with their friends and families in these three different ways. This title won the award by recording the highest sales volume in Japan during the period covered by the award. Since the sales launch on November 19, 2020, the cumulative number of sales has exceeded 3 million until June 15 of this year.

It is said that every company finishes an era in 30 years. But “Momotaro Dentetsu” has recorded the largest number of games in its history when more than 30 years have passed since its launch.
When I received the Special Achievement Award at the Japan Media Arts Festival, at first, I thought I didn't fit the image of such an award. Now I understand. It is the Special Achievement Award.
