Reason for the Global Award Japanese Product

This game wins the award because its new playing method of linkage between 3DS and WiiU is a new factor utilizing characteristics of each hardware and entertains fans all over the world, and because many users support the game in overseas markets.

Work Introdution

The latest version of Smash Brothers series, where all stars of Nintendo games fight battle royals. The number of fighters is the largest in the series: 50 including guest characters such as Rockman and Pacman as well as familiar Mario Brothers and Link.
For the first time in the series, two models for stationary and mobile game consoles are sold and plays suitable for features of each model are included.
The game continued to be updated for more than 1 year and added fighters and stages.

Comment of the game producer

We are surprised to receive this award. It is because “Super Smash Brothers for 3DS/WiiU” received the same award last year, too.
Though the counting is split between the previous year and this year, it is recognized that this game is the most popular selling game in the world. There is no precedent including the Foreign Division Award.
I would like to thank those who are willing to lend characters, dedicated staffs, and the interested parties again.
Still, I feel I should not be pleased obediently. It is because Japanese games disappeared in the 10 best-selling video games in the world. In the previous time, “Super Smash Brothers for 3DS/WiiU” was in the 8th ranking.
The ranking tendency verifies Japanese video games are decreasing presence in the consumer market year by year.
Sales are not everything and it is all right for a game to be enthusiastically accepted by a small group. Still, I feel it is natural for developers to want more people to play their game if they develop it at all.
I hope developers will try harder to prove Japanese games are appreciated in the world.
