JAPAN GAME AWARDS2013

ceremony「Amateur Division」

General Description

Title CHAIN
Platform PC
School HAL OSAKA
winner's name A-Mail PROJECT

Reason for the Honorable Mention

This title is operated by touching the screen of a PC running Windows 8, and the extremely high-quality images stand out more than anything else. The music and SE also match the images, and there are surely many people who will yearn for this fantastical game world.

In addition, not only do you meanderingly control the protozoan-like character, but thinking is also required to grow the character and avoid or break through obstacles, and having to worry about “How do I move to that location?” is one of the joys of this title.

However, the game is a little lacking in terms of the drive and objective behind it that leads to the motivation to continue playing it. I think strengthening this area would further improve its completeness as a game.

The team that won the award, A-Mail PROJECT, also received the Award of Excellence last year for the title “ELEDiVE,” and as with that title, their game “CHAIN” this time also demonstrates good concept and product completeness. I expect to see more good things from this team.

Work Introdution

In this game the player raises the character on a
stage that is a mineral and organic world while
sucking in the enemies to clear the stages.

The game employs interactive operation using a
touch screen and the method of attack utilizes
the fun and joy of seek, try, and find.

As the character follows the player’s fingertip,
it seems to have an alter ego that changes into a
character with affection, like a pet.

The distinctive world view and graphics as well
as the game music make this a highly
characteristic game.
