JAPAN GAME AWARDS2013

ceremony「Amateur Division」

General Description

Title Create&Crimbing
Platform PC
School HAL OSAKA
winner's name Ryoma Yamauchi

Reason for the Honorable Mention

This puzzle action game combines just the right amount of strategy with
action elements.

The game backdrop is a stage of linked multiple hexagons. To defeat the
enemies that appear on the hexagons, you must create steps to smash them.
And as you create the steps, the hexagons become higher and higher.
If you aren’t careful in how you make the steps, the height difference
between the hexagons will become large, preventing you from moving to
neighboring hexagons. You can only create a limited number of steps,
so you must create the steps and defeat the enemies with a certain amount
of planning keeping in mind your final goal.

Listening to the explanation of the rules might give the impression the game
is complex, but what the player can do is simple and there are rules for using
brute force, so you can play with a good tempo without deliberating over each
action. Although there was only limited time to play, the game appeared to
have the addicting aspect that is indispensable for puzzle games.

While not seeming original, the rules were designed well and the game can
be played with a rewarding feeling without stress. It has a strong feeling of
completeness, but I want to issue the big challenge of introducing rules and
performances with surprises to distract the player.

Work Introdution

The two color enemy characters shaped like
round balls drop blocks on each other to try to
squash their opponent with them.

Making a mistake could drop the blocks on
yourself!
Be victorious by avoiding the falling blocks while
running to the top level and squashing your
opponent.

You will alternate between the pleasure of
squashing your opponent and the thrill of the game.
The comical game music and effects some also
make this an attractive game.
