JAPAN GAME AWARDS2013

ceremony「Amateur Division」

General Description

Title Gabari 0.001ri no michi
Platform smartphone / tablet
School Nagoya Kougakuin College
winner's name GPU_RETURNS

Reason for the Honorable Mention

This is a casual action game played on a smartphone or tablet where you
wait for the right time to fling pins at balloons to pop them.

The main reasons for awarding this game was the simple operation and
easy-to-understand play that allowed the judges to enjoy the game with hardly
any or no explanation at all.

Further, as this was the only smartphone/tablet game to win an award, part of
the favorable evaluation came from linking the characteristics of “anytime,
anywhere, play just a little” of the platform to the above-mentioned “simplicity
and easy to understand” aspects.

This game also has a wonderful game design that achieves both the pleasant
feeling of bursting all of the large group of balloons (enemy) at once to pass
through them and the small feeling of accomplishment of skillfully popping the
balloons one at a time.

Work Introdution

As with the parable, “A thousand ri journey starts with one step,” the goal is 3,927 cm, which is 0.001 of a ri. The small pins, “Gabari,” are on a march backed by the pleasant graphics in the background. Jump up, take aim, and shoot the Gabari! Head for the goal while popping the balloons coming toward you. When a cloud of balloons approaches, press the “Pass-through button” to burst them all at once.Despite the clear and simple rules, this is a very catchy game.
