PRESS RELEASE
Japan Game Awards 2007
Awards ceremony that brings together some of Japan’s leading
game creators to be held at the TOKYO GAME SHOW 2007
The Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA, Chairman: Yoichi Wada; Location: Minato-ku, Tokyo) is pleased to announce that the Japan Game Awards 2007, an event devoted to the selection and recognition of outstanding computer entertainment software, will be held at the TOKYO GAME SHOW 2007.

Since 1996, the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) has selected outstanding computer entertainment software for recognition at an annual awards event that, together with the TOKYO GAME SHOW, ranks as one of CESA's biggest events of the year.

The Japan Game Awards 2007 consists of three categories: the Games of the Year Division for games that were released in Japan during the preceding year; the Future Division for pre-release games that will be exhibited at the TOKYO GAME SHOW 2007; and the Amateur Division for original games created by non-professionals. Awards will be presented in each of the three categories.

General voting for games entered in the Games of the Year Division, the division for games that were released on the Japanese market between April 1, 2006 and March 31, 2007, was conducted during the period from April 16 to July 27, 2007. Voting for games entered in the Future Division, games that will be exhibited at the TOKYO GAME SHOW 2007, will be conducted by visitors to the show. After the votes in each division have been tallied, the selection committee will determine the various award winners.

The Amateur Division for original games that have not yet been commercialized is a new division that was formed this year by combining the former Indies Division of the Japan Game Awards and the CESA Student Game Awards. The aim of this new division is to discover and recognize games that are rich in originality, regardless of whether the creator is a student or an amateur.

The Awards Ceremony for each division will be held at the Event Stage of the TOKYO GAME SHOW 2007: from 16:30 to 17:30 on Thursday, September 20 for the Games of the Year Division; from 12:30 to 13:30 on Friday, September 21 for the Amateur Division; and from 12:30 to 13:30 on Sunday, September 23 for the Future Division.
