CESA is proud to announce that public voting for the Japan Game Awards 2006 "Games of the Year Division" is now open. Once again this year, the Japan Game Awards will highlight and honor the industry's leading computer entertainment software products released over the last fiscal year, regardless of platform type. Applications from potential entrants in the "Indies Division" are also currently being accepted for non-commercial games.

The "Games of the Year Division" is now accepting votes for most popular products via postcard, Internet i HYPERLINK "http://awards.cesa.or.jp/" http://awards.cesa.or.jp/j, and mobile phone ( HYPERLINK "http://awards.cesa.or.jp/m/" http://awards.cesa.or.jp/m/ except AirH).@@Please select and vote for one product released in Japan between April 1, 2005, and March 31, 2006. Voters go in the draw to win prizes including travel vouchers, game consoles, award-winning products and admission tickets to "TOKYO GAME SHOW 2006". In addition, one hundred voters will receive pair invitations to be at the Awards Ceremony (held from 4:30 pm on Friday, September 22, 2006, at the "event stage" of TOKYO GAME SHOW 2006) together with a large number of the industryfs main game creators.

"Indies Division": works now being accepted for entry
All non-commercially produced works regardless of their applicantfs status (professional, amateur, corporate, organization or individual) are eligible for entry. Games that are winners or current or past entrants of other contests (except the previous CESA GAME AWARD INDIES) are also eligible for entry as well as fully completed works.
¦ Note: The following products are not valid for entry: those also entered in other contests which ban multiple contest entries, and those whose copyright has been or will be transferred to or admitted for use by the organizers of other contests or other third parities.

A first-stage evaluation session will be held in early August to select a group of award finalists. Following this, a final judging session will be held to determine the winner of the "Grand Award" as well as a number of other highly appraised entries to receive an "Award for Excellence." A trophy and a prize of 500,000 yen will be awarded to the "Grand Award" winner while "Award for Excellence" winners will each receive a trophy and 50,000 yen. The closing day for applications is Tuesday, July 25.

Voting eligibility
Voting is open to all members of the public regardless of gender, age, nationality, residential area, gaming experience or ownership of gaming materials. One person is limited to casting one vote.

Prizes
The following prizes will be presented to the winners of a special prize draw for vote casters for each division.

Eligible games All non-commercially produced works regardless of their applicantfs status (professional, amateur, corporate, organization or individual) are eligible for the award. Works that are winners or current or past entrants of other contests (except the previous CESA GAME AWARD INDIES) are also eligible for entry as well as fully completed works.
However, works also entered in other contests which ban multiple contest entries are ineligible (including works whose copyright has been transferred to the organizers of other contests).

  Award for Excellence (number unspecified) Award money: 50,000 yen
Award selection procedure Several products (whose applications were accepted between April 3 and July 25, 2006) will be nominated as finalists by the judges from the total field of entries during a first-stage evaluation session.
Following this, a final judging session will be held to determine the winner of the "Grand Award", and other highly appraised entries to receive an "Award for Excellence."
Selection committee The selection committee is made up of knowledgeable representatives of the media, game distributors and game creators.
Awards ceremony The press conference and Awards Ceremony will be held at the event stage in Makuhari Messe during the "TOKYO GAME SHOW 2006" held September 22 to 24, 2006, according to the following schedule.
