Japan Game Awards 2006 renamed from "CESA GAME AWARDS"
General voting for the "Games of the Year Division" and applications for the "Indies Division"
accepted from Monday, April 3, to Tuesday, July 25. General voting for the "Future Division" to be held at the "TOKYO GAME SHOW 2006"
Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association
|
The Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA, chaired by Kenzo Tsujimoto, located in Nishi-shimbashi, Minato-ku, Tokyo) announces that its computer entertainment software products awards ceremony, hitherto known as the "CESA GAME AWARDS," has been renamed to the "Japan Game Awards."
This year's awards ceremony, in which awards in various categories will be issued including the coveted Grand Award, has been set to take place at this year's "TOKYO GAME SHOW 2006" held in Makuhari Messe this September.
This event highlights and awards leading products in the computer entertainment software industry. The award system itself was first conceived by CESA in 1996, the initial year of CESA's establishment, with the first actual awards ceremony being held the following year at the "TOKYO GAMES SHOW" in the spring of 1997. In line with its long term aims, this annual event has contributed to the growth of the computer entertainment industry by helping foster talented individuals for game development and by increasing public awareness of the joys and possibilities of gaming.
The year 2006 marks the event's tenth anniversary. This past decade has brought about spectacular advances in the gaming world, through increased levels of technology utilized in household game machines and game software, as well as greater expansion to the gaming environment through the enhancement and popularization of the Internet.
The quality of Japanese gaming products have helped this industry grow into Japan's most internationally competitive digital content industry. By changing the name to "Japan Game Awards 2006", game users both in Japan and abroad will recognize that award winning titles have been enjoyed and evaluated by gamers across the entire country in the year, and represent the best that Japan's computer entertainment industry has to offer.
This year once again nominations and awards will be carried out in three separate categories, namely; "Games of the Year Division" for released products; "Future Division" for pre-release products; and "Indies Division" for pre-commercially produced products.
General voting for the "Games of the Year Division"
The "Games of the Year Division" accepts votes for most popular products via postcard, Internet ( HYPERLINK "http://awards.cesa.or.jp/" http://awards.cesa.or.jp/), and mobile phone ( HYPERLINK "http://awards.cesa.or.jp/m/" http://awards.cesa.or.jp/m/ except AirH) between Monday, April 3, and Tuesday, July 25, 2006. Voters go in the draw to win prizes including travel vouchers, game consoles, award-winning products and admission tickets to the "TOKYO GAME SHOW 2006". In addition, one hundred voters will receive pair invitations to be at the Awards Ceremony of Japan Game Awards.
